Yate Rugby Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Yate Rugby Club – Protecting Our Future, Together
At Yate Rugby Club, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to creating a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all our players, from the youngest members of our Academy to our senior teams. Rugby is a game for everyone, and we believe that every player, coach, and supporter has the right to enjoy it in a secure, supportive atmosphere.
We take our responsibilities to safeguard and protect the welfare of children and vulnerable adults very seriously. Our goal is to ensure that all participants can enjoy the game of rugby without fear of harm, bullying, or abuse.
Commitment to Safeguarding
At Yate Rugby, we align our safeguarding practices with the policies and guidelines set out by the Rugby Football Union (RFU), the national governing body for rugby in England. We follow the RFU’s Safeguarding Policy to ensure that every aspect of our club's operation, from training to match days, meets the highest standards of protection and care.
You can find more information about the RFU's safeguarding guidelines [here]
Safeguarding Officer
We are proud to have a dedicated Club Safeguarding Officer who oversees all safeguarding procedures within the club. Our Safeguarding Officer is always available to provide advice, guidance, and support on any safeguarding issues, ensuring the welfare of our players is always the top priority.
The Safeguarding Officer works closely with coaches, volunteers, parents, and players to:
-
Ensure all coaches and volunteers are fully trained and DBS-checked, following the RFU’s safeguarding guidelines.
-
Provide ongoing training for our staff, so they are equipped to recognize, prevent, and respond to any concerns.
-
Create a safe environment where players of all ages feel confident to speak up about any issues or concerns.
Our Safeguarding Promise
We listen. Every player, parent, and volunteer has a voice. We are committed to making sure everyone feels heard and supported.
We protect. All of our coaches, staff, and volunteers are thoroughly vetted and trained to provide a safe, nurturing environment for everyone at the club.
We act. If any safeguarding concerns arise, we follow a clear and confidential process to ensure they are dealt with quickly and appropriately, with the welfare of the individual at the forefront of our actions.
Everyone’s Responsibility
At Yate Rugby, safeguarding is not just the responsibility of the safeguarding officer – it’s the responsibility of EVERYONE involved in our club. Together, we can create a positive environment where rugby can be enjoyed safely, and where players can develop their skills with confidence and joy.
If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to learn more about our safeguarding practices, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Safeguarding Officer.
Yate Rugby Club – Committed to protecting and nurturing our players, today and always.
